Maybe he has a love affair with players west of the Mississippi.

I don't really care where our players come from. Not too long ago everyone was saying we had to get players from the U and 10 years later very few can even be named. Just make good picks, I hate articles like this because it doesn't point out needs at the time, who was on the board, and how the player was viewed.
Well I mean that's because Miami sucks now
well yea now, but not 10 years ago when that craze was going on.
And Hawkins went to Cal.
Ball and Lutui were signed as cheap free agents so they really don't count but we have drafted a lot of USC and UCLA guys the last 2-3 years.
Question is which of those picks was a bad one? None of them!
You see the same attitudes where i'm from where Bear fans always want more Notre dame guys. You have to have a sound system for scouting that pays no attention to conference or geography. 25% of the combine was from sec schools so you expect to always draft some of them.
The old USFL did have a regional system for drafting guys so the Birmingham Stallions would have had first dibs on Bama and auburn players. Kind of interesting.
The SEC formula..
It does work.
Ah yes, and so did Stephens
Back then it was all about the U. I wish it still was with move like this
