ESPN's Chris Mortenson reports that C.J. wants 13 mil per year over the first 3 years of a new deal. I say give it to him.

That's still a bit much IMO but considering the (absurd) DeAngelo Williams contract that's probably about right. If he's expecting more than that though I say let him sit. CJ is a dynamic player, no doubt about it. Unfortunately for him he plays the most easily replaceable position in football. If he's dead set on Andre Johnson type money he can screw off.

    lol

    of course you do.
I say let his mumbling arse rot in magic town. Titans own his next 2/3 NFL seasons. Make him play for the contract he signed or let him rot.

I really don't believe that, but I would rather CJ rot than the Titans be gutted by 1 players hubris. Deal will happen CJ will be all smiles and crap FO will not have crippled the franchise ect...

I agree that this was handled poorly, and Reese is no longer around (for a variety of reasons, but I am guessing that this was one of them). That said, McNair still participated in Titans activities (Fisher softball game, other events) and remained in Nashville after this, so I am guessing that he did not harbor ill will towards the franchise for this.

We may have contributed to the bad rap here, but I still say that the vast majority of the reputation is media driven.

CJ simply is not worth $39+ mil over 3 years. As much as some fans refuse to admit it, a guy like Jamaal Charles is every bit the back CJ is. Wipe the 2K season stars from your eyes and just look at it objectively. It could actually be argued that JC has been the more effective back over the past 2 seasons (6.1ypc to CJ's 4.9). Anyway my point is this... let's face it, there are other "speed backs" who could hit 2K yards if they got 358 carries in a season behind an elite O-line.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not in the "CJ is completely a product of the system and is easily replaceable" camp. Because I do think he's special. I just don't think he's quite as special as a lot of Titan fans make him out to be. He's not the once in a lifetime (or even decade IMO) player many believe him to be.

He's a very, very, very good back. He's arguably the best in the league at the moment. So I have no problem paying him as such. But he's certainly not a guy that should be expecting top QB/WR money though. Running backs simply aren't that valuable. No matter how talented.

You guys are WAY overreacting right now! He'll be there week 1 running the ball and making considerably less than Brady and Manning. I know this is frustrating but it will all be over soon and we'll have C.J. locked up for 4-5 years. I guarantee it.

Everyone needs to hope that Harper and Ringer absolutely kill it in preseason.

Bring this clown back to reality.

If he just decides not to play then we'll eventually have to trade him. We can't afford to get nothing out of a guy who we could get a LOT for. And we definitely can't afford to lose another first round pick. VY Pacman and CJ? All in 6 years? He has all the leverage here unless we Mike Brown it and just let the guy walk for absolutely nothing in return.

Not quite sure you understand... he is under contract by the Titans for the next 2 years, now 3 thanks to the losing a year under the new CBA. He can't simply walk. He either plays for the Titans, or he plays for no one unless the Titans trade him. Trust me on this... he holds no leverage whatsoever except being a fan favorite.

edit: And if he never shows up for camp, we can just keep fining him each day eating up what "little" salary he would make this year.

Wanna see something real special... look at the contract he would get next year if he did indeed sit on his butt in Orlando this whole year.
