Titans won't use franchise tag on TE Jared Cook

Ah. Well let's see here:

Craig Stevens had 275 yards.

Taylor Thompson had 46 yards.


Hmmm... so which of these amazing TEs is going to have over 500 yards receiving next year?

He almost had 800 yards receiving the year prior.

Easily replaceable. Right. When is the last time we had a TE get close to 800yds receiving?

Since it's so easy to replace...

 

I really like Cook, but I've said all along that I would take the 6 mil he was going to get and the 5mil that Washington is going to get and go sign Mike Wallace or Greg Jennings.

I also think that we can spend the 6mil it was going to cost to tag Cook on a player that is going to play more than 40% of the snaps.

And to be honest, I don't even think we sign any key FA.

 

He had 11 more catches and 100 more receiving yards than Cook this year with only 18 more targets...

 

Well for starters his targets would transfer over to them somewhat and we'd either sign/draft another TE and there are a lot of good ones to choose from...

 

I'm actually really not heart broken over this like I thought I would be.

I have always liked and wanted the "3rd and 3" type TE. You know the type of TE that will catch it on those crucial downs, and to be honest, Jared wasn't it.

 

This is really going to hurt my Madden game.

 

We probably will not draft a TE earlier than the 5th, we just have too many needs that go before it. Plus we have half assidly invested in the position. Expect a mid level starter and some sub par play at this position next year.

But on the bright side Stephens get to show how much of an underrated threat he is catching the ball.
