Lets imagaine you are Jon Robinson, and you are offered a trade (Specifics don't matter for this scenario, let's just say it's a good deal for the Titans). Part of this trade involves giving up 1 of our 2017 first rounders ... Which pick do you give up? Our pick, or the Rams pick that we aquired? Titans were supposed to pick 1st this year, so common sense would say that you we will most likely be picking high again next year. So giving up the Rams pick would make sense. However, it would also imply that you don't expect your team to be very good, or that you aren't confident in you're ability to turn the team around (at least not quickly). Not very inspiring for the players or fans. If we were in that position, I'd hope that JRob would give up OUR pick. That would take some major balls, and also send a message to fans and players that he is confident with his decisions and in turning things around. Oh well, just thought about this scenario when reading trade talk, and wondered what others would do
I don't see it happening, but I'd give up our pick... Even though on paper the Rams are a safe bet for 6-8 wins. And we are not. But at least I wouldn't be hoping we tank. I much prefer we keep both 1sts from next year. And I expect we will.
If any team was to ask me for one of my first next year, this is pretty much how the conversation would go.
The Rams have the Seahawks and Cardinals to deal with, we have the Colts and Texans, I might be crazy but I like our chances of obtaining a playoff spot with Mariota vs the Rams with Goff in the NFC West. Id wheel and deal our pick, I think the Rams will be picking high in 2017.
