Linebacker Rico Council may only be on the Titans’ practice squad right now. But the way injuries have piled up at the linebacker position for the Titans, it may not be long before Council earns a spot on the 53-man roster. The Titans signed the 6-1, 255-pound Council, a former Tennessee State standout and a Chattanooga native, to the practice squad on Wednesday. Three of the team’s linebackers – Colin McCarthy, Patrick Bailey and Xavier Adibi – are currently dealing with injuries. Linebacker Will Witherspoon is just returning from a hamstring injury and linebacker Zac Diles was placed on injured reserve earlier this season. “We’ve been looking for young linebackers that can come in and show us what they can do,” Titans coach Mike Munchak said. “We’ve been having such a run on linebackers this year as far as guys getting hurt, so you never know when you’ll have to elevate one. “So we’ll just bring in some young guys and see who may develop. Who knows? You may be on the practice squad one day and running down special teams the next.” Posted In: Team News Source: Titans Insider
