A great way to finish off an amazingly GREAT week for America with the first UFC held in New York. A little downer, and I'm pretty bummed about it, Donald "cowboy" Cerrone will not be fighting as his opponent did not make weight, not even within the 5 lb limit to allow the fight to continue. That said... 1) Connor McGregor vs. Eddie Alvarez for the Lightweight Title. Love him, hate him, indifferent... the fights with Diaz were fantastic to watch and this should be a good one. Eddie is a very good fighter. 2) Tyron Woodley vs Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson for the Welterweight Title. Winner could be fighting GSP next. Woodley has some hands and Wonderboy is on a hot streak. Should be another exciting fight. 3) Joanna Champion vs. Karolina Hottie for Female Strawweight title. Hottie is undefeated but Champion is vicious. Another entertaining fight. 4) Chris Weidman vs. Yoel Romero. #1 Contender fight in middleweights. Weidman is a native New Yorker and former champion; the guy that ended Anderson Silva's greatness. Yoel has been fighting a long time, only 1 MMA loss. 5) Meisha Tate vs Somebody. Boobs. Undercard (for free! on FS1): Frankie Edgar (former lightweight champ) vs. Jeremy Stephens. Two longtime vets. Khabid Nermagodevov (23-0!, Russian) vs. Michael Johnson. Khabib is in line for the next lightweight title shot. Rafeal Natal vs Tim Boestch. Two vets. Boetsch fights are usually entertaining, heavy fisted. Making UFC great again. Should be a good one to watch. Worth it for anyone with casual interest. Cards usually aren't this stacked.
