Is it a problem if you send your girlfriend out to pick up a Blockbuster video but instead she comes home with a Red Box?
We have that issue in this household. I want the locally-owned Mom'N'Pop video store to stay open, and I like browsing it. Traci rents from a box in the grocery store. Not only is that offensive on economic principle, but it means I have to drive further to the grocery store with the stupid traffic pattern to return her dumb movie about poor people who live in dirt killing each other. Still, if that's the only complaint I have about her after two years, I'm doing alright.
In the world of movie rentals, $1.06 is better than $5 any day. I can appreciate the family owned businesses, but they're a dying business to have. Videos on demand, monster Blockbusters, and now red box have all created too much competition from mom and pops. The only real problem with redbox is the selection, and availability of some movies. Since you can return them to any other redbox, beating the renewal deadline is easier. Type "DVDONME" in the redbox promo code box before you begin picking movies, and get it one night for free.
