VT shootings this morning

I've got a friend in the engineering school, and one who lives in the dorm it started. I have no way of getting in touch with them, but they've both changed their facebook profiles in the last few hours, so I'm thinking that's a good sign. Please keep the students and others at the school in your prayers.

Actually, theres speculation that the guy planned it fairlywell. There was a bomb threat last friday at the school, and it's becoming assumed that it was the same guy, testing the responsiveness of the school and city police. Obviously, the guy wasn't an idiot, because this was handled HORRIBLY by the campus and state police. The fact that there was no cancellations of classes or mandatory curfews put into effect is baffling, I don't care if you think the shooter fled or not. No, there's an e-mail sent out to students nearly TWO HOURS after the original shooting (this is PER-friends of mine who attend).

I know this isn't the time to blame anyone, but it's pathetic how poorly this was handled by local police. It's going to be very hard to stomach the details coming out of this tragedy.

 

I didn't mean the gunman was a moron, I meant the Head of the School for not calling the day off/cancellation etc.

 

First of all, if I were in his position, I would have called classes and put a police car at every entrance to turn off-campus students away.

That said, I can see how he might see it as an isolated incident, the first shooting was in one dorm room, the guy didn't run down a hall shooting. By itself, that looks like a targeted, isolated incident. Looks like the guy had a target and took care of it. But as I said, I would have shut down the campus regardless.

 

Agree totally, it was a joke, teh school and police should be ashamed

For those of you who are college students, it surely brings us back to reality that this world is flawed and that you aren't as protected as many are brought up to believe. Today we have witnessed the largest mass murdering in American History and it has been easily one of the most grey days for our country since 9/11. Please keep your prayers with those students and families and that God shall bring the coward to justice.
