VY....exposed

    Three times this year teams have contained Vince and forced him to stay in the pocket. The Jags twice and the Pats today. The stats aren't pretty.

    Attempts: 87
    Completions: 38
    Percent: 43.5
    Yards 475 - 158 avg per game
    TD Passes: 0
    Interceptions: 5

    This is what Chow has to accomplish over the winter. He has got to get Vince's mechanics better so he can make different throws. The "flick" works sometimes, but other times he needs some touch or a laser. Being slow to get the ball to his receivers is not only allowing defenders to get to the ball, but he is getting WR's beat up pretty good. This may explain some "short arms" this year. He seems to miss some really short passes too, kind of like a golfer "chunking one" by not following through. Now that teams have seen him, they will know how to scheme for him better, and it will become crucial for him to be able to use his arm (and head) to make plays. When he couldnt run today he seemed frustrated and threw up a lot of "Hail Mary's". It will be interesting to see how much he can improve from this year to next.

    Wow, you've deduced that Vince Young is a rookie QB and needs to improve in the offseason. Somebody give this man a medal!! He's a freaking genius!!!

    Oh and btw, there's nothing wrong with the speed of Young's throws, it's the accuracy that needs to get better. He can zip one in there as well as float it out, getting it on target seems to be little inconsistent though.

    That flick pass which SHOULD have been caught for a TD by Hartsock was pretty tremendous, to know the guy is there with your back turned, and flick it over, is something, that teaches iteslf...

    There were at least 3 times I can think of that Vince could have run for first downs, but chose to stay in and throw. They did a descent job af containing him, but some seemed to be by his choice. And he did run for a TD today.
