So I have gotten into arguments over our receivers that try to blame MM's faults on them. Recently, it was posted that we were #3 in the league with the least amount of dropped passes. Not bad.
But there is more. Some of you may know the DVAR report. It evaluates everything a receiver does except blocking, etc. Mainly concerned with catching the ball, and how he does overall and on a play by play basis. Well, surprise, surprise - there sits Matthews at #7. He also ranks 2nd in TD's. Remember, he wasn't getting all the reps until Johnson left. Pretty good company.

If we didn't have a noodle arm QB Matthews would have 18 TDs.

Probably 25 teams in the league need a #1. The problem is finding it.

The stats don't lie. Dez was out for several games, so that run up his numbers. Beasley is small and fast, and he gets open. Watch some Dallas games.

There are more than you think, #1's don't all have to be built like Julio

A lot of those aren't #1s in my book.

Allen Hurns, DJax, Tate, Marvin Jones, Edelman, Crabtree, and Watkins aren't #1s for various reasons.

I was surprised to see Jacksonville be so eager to give Hurns a new deal after one year of great production. Maybe a regime change gets him back on track in 2017?

DJax was a great deep threat, but four of his last six seasons haven't been over 1000 yards.

Golden Tate has one 1000-yard season in his career. 2016 probably won't be his second.

Up to this point, Marvin Jones is what Nate Washington was here; dependable and productive, but we can all agree Nate wasn't a #1.

Julian Edelman has two years over 900 yards. 2016 probably won't be a third.

Crabtree has one 1000-yard season. 2016 probably won't be his second.

Watkins certainly has the skill, but he can't be productive if he isn't on the field, which is way too often.

I wouldn't complain about any of these guys donning a Titans jersey, but we'd still be in need of a #1.

I'll say that MM's ability to spread the ball and get hit passes to receivers makes me think WR is not as much of a must have in terms of reaching in the draft.

If there IS a number 1 WR when we draft, we need to get it. If not, then yea go for CB and ILB.
