What might Javon Ringer like as a nickname?

How about we call him "potential" or "hope he is for real" until we have some regular season production. I've seen a boat-load of pre-season heroes that never produce the same.

Don't get me wrong- I like what I'm seeing out of Ringer and I just think it is WAY too early to get caught up in the "hype".

I remember last year we kept hearing about "The Hawk".

 

why are some of you so cautious to give out nicknames?

Is giving someone a nickname realistically going to hurt his chances to be great? Then whats the problem?

Giving someone a nickname isn't hurting anyone, its all in fun and your acting like we're committing a sin.

I like "The Ringer"

Every Fans Dream?

 

First of all, Ringer is a rookie and hasn't played a snap in an NFL game that counts. So- I don't think he has earned anything yet. And it IS about showing productivity with me. It hasn't done anything for the team yet that counts.

Second, it seems to me that folks interested in giving players nicknames are really seeking to be "the guy that came up with [insert player]'s nickname. So it is really more about themselves than the player.

And third, because I like for data to be significant and valid. Crown him with a nickname when he rung up (no pun intended) some yards and points on a full squad of opposing number ones.


btw- his nickname should be "The Bell" Ringer.

I'm leaning towards a Chris Berman-esk nickname like Jevon "the Bell" Ringer, or maybe Jevon "The Telephone" Ringer, or Jevon Ringer "Round the Collar".
