The Titans start training camp next week. Players report to Saint Thomas Sports Park on Wednesday, and practices begin the following day. At the end of the week, practices will be open to fans.

And everyone can begin judging the Titans and the differences from 2012 to 2013.

Here’s defensive coordinator Jerry Gray’s take on the team’s offense this offseason:

“The biggest thing I like about our offense is they are using all 54 yards wide and 120 yards long. They are going to make you defend the whole field and a lot of teams don’t do that. They are going to challenge you. They are attacking the whole football field and keeping everybody honest. … Hopefully we can keep working at that, and Jake (Locker) can keep getting better.

“Jake is doing good. He is doing everything he needs to do. The biggest thing is getting the ball to the playmakers and letting them make plays, and not thinking he has to make every great throw. Throw it up there and let Kenny Britt go get it, let Nate Washington) go get it. And I think that is what young guys have to understand. Every throw is not going to be a great throw, so put the onus on the receivers to get it done.”

Here’s what offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains has seen from the defense:

“I do see a difference schematically — there is definitely a different there. And there is definitely a difference in the swagger and the attitude of the team. I am sure that comes with every Gregg Williams defense and any team he has been a part of. There is definitely a confidence and a swagger that this group has that maybe the group last year didn’t have.”

Good to hear. We need some swagger on our whole team and not just defense.

If we could get rid of Baptist Sports Med altogether, I'd feel better about our team.

We should be spreading the field with the playmakers we have now. Good to hear. Plus it will help the run game and get CJ to the 2nd level. If our receivers make blocks it could be a long year for defenses.

I'm hoping the press man leads to a lot more sacks and more creative blitzing. You can do a lot more as a defense when you can control the timing of the throw. We have good enough D-Lineman to get to the QB in a hurry. Hoping Martin or Hill steps up.
