The issue in case you have not fiqured that out yet is running the football. Can lendale white become a better runner. It has never had anything to do with picking up blitzes.

Did grant of the packers develop overnight or simply get a chance to play? Since the only real way for a back to prove himself better than a teamate is on the field but if he isn't on the field that much it's hard to win playing time.

As i have said repeatedly said running backs can't really improve much on their speed or quickness or power. That is commonsense.

FYI on stephen davis. He played behind terry allen a back with 3 pro bowls and 8600 career yards. When davis arrived allen had 3 straight 1000 yard seasons and 2 pro bowls. Why would davis start in that situation?

Stephen davis his first 3 years as a supposed undeveloped backup. 4.1 yards per carry.

Stephen davis the rest of his career as a fully developed stud starter. 4.1 yards a carry.

    That's development for you.

This thread is so moronic that when a poster writes that
He has to be lectured about comparing the 2 even though he never did any such thing.

We have eddie george who walked right off the ohio state campus and in to the nfl. His first 5 games as a pro he averaged 93 yards a game. Never in eddie george's career was he better than those first 5 games! Let's end this nonsense about development now!

Give it up GoT. You can't win this argument because you are wrong. Move on.

Your whole argument is based on White getting better which could possibly happen but trying to argue that most RBs "develop" and get better is simply not statistically something you can prove because it doesn't happen.

If anything in the NFL the trend might actually be the other way because many RBs who aren't the big time stars fizzle and are out of the league in 4 years.
