    If you really want a specific player, you try to trade up for him.

    We tried to trade up for Kearse in 1999, and got very lucky that he fell to us anyway. But is there anyone who thinks it wouldn't have been worth trading up 3 spots to get him if the alternative had been losing him?

    No question trading up for a particular players can be worthwhile, but 1 spot? The chances of the 1 team in front of you picking your player (unless you've been open about wanting him, see Eli Manning) are pretty slim. Regarding the Giants-Titans trade, would we have picked Shockey had they not traded?

    We didn't have to pick Shockey, which yes was somewhat unlikely (but not impossible since Wycheck was getting old). We could have traded down a few spots with some theam that did want him. If the Giants wanted to be sure, then the loss of a 4th rounder would have been worth it...
