Brilliant comment if you are talking about the first game of the season in his rookie year. People get all these pre-conceived ideas about players because of where they were drafted which in the long run has zero to do with the kind of player they can become. Steve Largent was a 4th round pick for the Oilers and it would probably be safe to say he was the best WR ever drafted by the franchise. Apparently they had someone with real football savy with the organization back then and they traded him to Seattle for an 8th round pick. I guess they thought Largent "wouldn't start on any team in the NFL" either.

When Largent retired, he held all major NFL receiving records, including: most receptions in a career (819), most receiving yards in a career (13,089), and most touchdown receptions (100). He was also in possession of a then-record streak of 177 consecutive regular-season games with a reception.

Drew Bennett came to the Titans as a college QB and an UDFA. He became a pretty good starter as well. So although I'm not stupid enough to say Mariani will be the next Largent or even the next Bennett I will say it wouldn't surprise me at all he has a long NFL career. If the Colts got their hands on this kid he could be a 1000 yard WR for them playing in the slot. I truly believe he has a real good chance to have as good of or better NFL career than any WR on the Titans right now except maybe Britt. He is light years ahead of any rookie WR we have had except for Britt.
