Who will be our next head coach??

Here's some quick stats to prove this years running game is WAAAYYYY better.

2016 through 11 games - 1549 yards
2015 through 16 games - 1485 yards

Now, just to add about the long Murray runs, I'll subtract his LONG from each game (291 yards total)
(If it matters, 12, 67, 36, 14, 14, 16, 14, 22, 13, 75, 8)

2016 w/o Murray's long in 11 games - 1258 (114.4 YPG)
2015 through 16 games - 1458 (92.8 YPG)

It's not even close. We knew last year's running game was trash and this year's has been great. It's not just because of a handful of break away runs by Murray.

 

Thanks for doing the math here, I figured @Big TT was pretty off on his statement. The run game is far from an issue, and light years better than last year.

 

Its the defense thats the issue, it seems the offense is finally clicking together and for Mariota he's starting to put the pieces together.

Agreed. But then again, this is how it should be considering how much early draft capital has been spent on offense lately. D has been really ignored and it shows. But with how JR has set himself up with draft picks, 1 more FA and draft could make a huge impact on this roster.

 

How many carries/gm did we have each year and what was each rushing avg?

 

Mind you this takes into account EVERY run including scrambles by Mariota/other QBs last year and Fowler, any WR than had a run, anything.

Now through 12 games:
356 carries 1698 for 4.8 YPC
This breaks down to 29.6 carries per game for 141.5 yards

2015 through 16 games:
371 carries 1485 yards 4.0 avg.
23.19 carries for 92.8 yards per game.

Subtract the Carries per game (6.5) from this year to match (closely) last year's and we have:
23.1 carries for 115.1 yards per game.
Still almost 20 yards a game more if it was down to the same number of carries, but with the run avg, we kind of already knew that.
