Why do we still run a power run offense?

    Passing more means you're behind

    I prefer our balanced approach

The Run and Shoot was 4 wr! We could go 3 WR with Delanie!

The Run and Shoot was an excellent offense! Got a lot of bad pub but it produced. Too bad our D kept choking (oilers vs Denver and Bills) and we had no wr's vs the Chiefs and Montana when our D was quite excellent!

We have a power run game for several reasons. First, running is the easiest way to get consistent positive yards and if you can run it down someone's throat (you can simply over power them), they are screwed! Running requires good blocking or solid blocking and a rb with decent vision.

Passing requires the QB to make a good pre-snap read, call the right protection, the OL to block the right protection (more complicated than run blocking due to stunts and zone blitzes), qb to read the right coverage, wrs to run the right patterns, the QB to find the open wr, the qb to make an accurate throw, and the wr to make the catch and stay in bounds and not drop the ball when hit. Lots of things can go wrong on passing plays to cause turnovers or negative plays. Both tend to be drive killers.

Plus, most teams have better pass defenders (it's a 'passing league' right?) so playing against that current is smart. The scheme, strategy, tactics, playcalling and decision making are sometimes good, but sometimes very lackluster.

That Chiefs game we still had Duncan, Givins and Jeffires as WR but Moon took 9 sacks that game.

I'll give credit where due, that Chiefs D was really good.

Gary Brown at RB wasn't really all that helpful either even with the lack of carries in the run & shoot.

Needless to say, D kept choking, but the Offense didn't always put them in good positions. That F'n Bills game, the story was the D was just gassed in the second half which really led to the collapse.
