Why is Dodds an outside linebacker?

    I know he is out for the year but he is more of a DE even in a 3-4. I just don't see him making it as a linebacker. If he is a bust like some has said how about trading him in the offseason for another bust such as Wr Treadwell of the vikes.

    Well, if we keep him, he will not make it as a 275 lbs linebacker.

    His determining factor will be his health and apparently his work ethic. I think he can be fine at that weight. He moved around well at the beginning of the season.

    Because we run a 3-4 defense.

    For the most part

    4-3 DE = 3-4 OLB
    4-3 OLB = 3-4 ILB

    There are others as big as Dodd who play 3-4 OLB

    there are only a handful of 3-4 ends under 300 pounds and Dodd isn't capable of closing off the edge.

    Not the right type of player. He is not stout enough to stand in against run blocking and take up double teams.

    A 3-4 DE is like a 4-3 DT.

    And he is barely big enough, closer to OLB
