Let's back up a minute... We never expected to be 9-7 this year. We were on a 2-3 year plan when the season started. I think we still are on that plan. By that logic, I would not expect us to draft or sign free agents to try and win it all in 2018. I think we will continue to build a nucleus of talent for the next 3 or 4 seasons. It would not surprise me at all if we don't sign a free agent corner or draft one in the top 18 this year. The GM has a job to think about the long-term success of the team. Corner and Safety are needed, but maybe not all this year. My point is that it would not be unreasonable at all if we continue to draft to build our future O line and D line and add other pieces in later rounds. I would not be shocked at all if we draft OG, OT. DT and ILB early in this draft and bring on CB, WR and SS in later picks. That is not a bad thing. There are certainly players that improve our team in those spots in FA and in the draft. I could totally see us spending high draft picks on ILB, OG, and DT if we can't get that in free agency. There are also many guys we can get that could be long-term contributors at WR, TE, and CB that we can draft in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th round or later. EX. Taywan Taylor, Kenny Golladay, Kevin King, Ezra Robinson, Chidobe Awuzie, Gerald Everett, etc...

I, for one, will not be watching the draft expecting us to take that big impact player early. I think we are still in the mode of building the nucleus of the team. I think it may be wise for all of us to look at it from that standpoint as well. We may have another 8-8 or 9-7 season to go before we become the Patriots, South.

I think Robinson has proved that he will fix a hemorrhage before he worries about abrasions... And our biggest gusher -- was cornerback..

Our gusher last year, was T.... and sure enough.

To say we're not going to take a corner in Top 18, is silly.. I have agreed w/ JC in saying JMAC will not be here... So even if we sign a high profile corner, we're down one.

I am hoping we trade down, not way too far, and playing the chance game on Lattimore dropping to us... but i'd be ok with picking him at 5. He's the best corner in the draft, and it's our hemorrhage....

The Titans have a very good chance to make the playoffs next year. It would be a disservice to the franchise to not try to accomplish that goal as you never know how long your window will last. Not saying they will spend stupid, but I'm sure they will address their major needs.

I can see up not taking a CB in the top 18. I think the team is higher on Sims than most of us think. I think we will sign a FA. This CB class is DEEP.

I do think we'll take WR/TE, ILB, S, or CB in the first.

Obviously FA will dictate a lot of what we do in the draft.

I have no doubt that Robinson will spend significant FA/draft collateral to fix the secondary.

Robinson has always been a build it from the inside out sort of guy and so I think WR is the least likely 1st rnd pick. I think he would rather have an extra pass rusher or ILBer than a rookie WR.

I agree. WR was never a huge priority in New England (although J'Rob wasn't the one calling the shots there). I forsee Douglas getting cut, signing an avg FA a WR that has potential like Mathews did.

J Rob was in Tampa when the Bucs took Mike Evans in the top 10 but New England hasn't taken a WR in the 1st round since 1996.

Ok so Ive finally gotten around to looking at this kid in depth, and he looks legit.

He virtually shuts out Chris Godwin in the Penn St game, then Mike Williams in the Clemson game. Godwin and Williams are good receivers with NFL measureables, Lattimore could be my favorite CB.

Looking at Robibnsons first draft he seems to pick players who have beaten other elite prospects, Lattimore certainly fits that pattern as a possible JR guy.

JRob also said they focused on the interior last year and that the team must focus on the parimeter... that doesn't have to be just the draft though.

"I think (now) it’s just continuing to build on that, branch out on that. Try to create more opportunities to get the offense out there, when the offense is out there try to find a few more plays to put ourselves in better scoring position."

Sure sounds like we are looking at WRs to me.
