Why Winning March 10th isn't That Important

Yeah it's amazing how the Michael Johnson experiment blew up so fast. He was a super hot free agent this time last year.

I can't see Johnson in a 3/4, so I doubt we go after him. Dude was a beast at Georgia Tech and the Cincinnati Bengals.

But yeah, this is one example of many bad free agency signings.

 

I'm really not in panic mode at all... I just think we've whiffed on some potentially good and affordable signings.

Either way, with a garbage team like ours, the only way to improve it is to draft well and build a good foundation that good FAs will want to be a part of.

FA is most effective for contenders trying to find that extra push to put them over the top. See Colts this season and Seahawks in 2013.

I don't see the Colts winning it all, but they are going back to the AFC Championship with ease.

 

But it's really rare to cut ties with 3 players within the first year of signing contracts.

 

Agree with everything said. This foundation needs to be laid down via the draft. SO important we draft well this year.

As for Johnson, he'll head back to Cincy, or end up with Dallas.

 

I'm certainly frustrated but yes a team is built through the draft. Missing out on Devin McCourty and seeing Jason Worilds does sting a bit. That definitely would've helped jump start the process a bit.

 

What happens when you blow both free agency and the draft every year?

 

You become the Raiders, Browns, and Bucs of the league.
