If we are smart we will put some read option plays in the play book but not make it the focus of our offense. Just run it enough to keep the defense guessing and having to prepare for it. Then use it in the game when we think it will work. Basically you run the RB a few times to get a feel what the DE or OLB is doing. If he is coming down hard to stop the run you have Locker make the read and keep the ball a few times. The 49ers did it all game against the Packers and they never figured it out. On the other hand we don't need that to be our main offense. Locker isn't going to last long doing that and he is better throwing the ball vertically on roll outs and boot legs and sing his running ability when he can get yardage but get out of bounds.
