after listening to critics and people who actually tried to watch soccer, ive concluded that soccer needs some big changes to make it in the US.

    1. Americans like to win, they like to have many teams to chose from. IMO America should start their own soccer league and get all major cities involved in starting a team. Have a regular season, playoffs and a championship game.

    2. Stop the stupid buzzing noise! needs stadium announcers and music and team logos on the field.

    3. Need better well known American voices to be the commentators and makes it exciting for the fans. Needs better broadcasting and camera work and marketing. How can you even play fantasy soccer ? it's not on that level yet!

    4. Needs instant replay! How can anyone take soccer serious with the blown calls they have had this year?

    5. Needs a delay of Game rule! Also needs penalties for faking injuries! thats just lame! it's almost on the level of WWE with over the top dramatica!

    6. The goal needs to light up when the ball goes in like it does in Hockey.

    7. Some players need to be mike'd up so we can hear the action on the field every now and then.

thats just some of the issues thats keeping the average American from watching the sport. if i was a billionaire it would be worth the investment to send soccer in this direction, if FIFA wont change how it's done, then start over!

^Let me guess... some other things:

    Timeouts every 10 seconds.
    More stoppage.
    Cheerleaders.
    Stupid looking mascots.
Guys that hold out and are spoiled little b**ches, or can't figure out if they're going to retire so they can get media attention.
    Commercials.
Penalties for "interference". Bumping, pushing, shoving, etc.

American sports are so dummied that it's hard for other countries to appreciate. I can understand it. I can't imagine not liking the NFL, but I grew up on it. I can see why others wouldn't like it though. Same with the NBA, and more so with baseball.

Soccer is truly a beautiful sport. Its one of the few pure sports left. Guys play their off because they love to win. Not just worried about money, endorsements, etc. There's a sense of pride and passion that lacks in most team sports.

naw i wouldnt change much game wise or have stoppage all the time, but they do need replays and the fake injuries are childish, i cant take soccer serious if the game rules arent serious. would you like it if a NFl player could fall down on the field on a 2 minute drive and run the clock out so the other team couldnt score? it's dumb and needs to be fixed. they need replays cause the Refs are favored for 1 country more than the other. they can simply blow a call and cost anyone the game.

I like that soccer keeps going without timeouts and stuff, but the teams have found ways around that by the fake injuries etc... the rules need to be tightened up and some changes need to be made. i just cant take it serious with the way it is now, plus rooting for 1 country isnt that fun, people need to be able to root for teams. a 12-16 team league would be a good idea in the US.

Back in school, a friend of mine told me about playing a team on this particular field that they had a gameplan. That gameplan was to get ahead of the other team, then kick the ball deep into the ravine that was next to the field. It took a lot of time to retrieve the ball and the clock would keep ticking.

All I could think in response was, "Seriously?!"

Germany looked unbeatable today. Should be a fun final four.

NFL players DO fall down and many times fake it. Only difference is, people can run on to the field then help them off.
Haynesworth was king of faking injuries for rest.

Don't even try to compare the two sports. Guys fake in all sports, whether it be the NBA, soccer or the NFL. But is the possibility of someone on the other team getting a yellow card worth looking like a total b!tch on tv for the whole world to see?

    Guys get carded for diving.

And yes, it's very popular- but no more popular than floppers in the NBA.

To me, there's a difference between flopping in the NBA and the way guys roll around like they've been shot in soccer. If the guy in the NBA falls down he looks for the call and complains a little. In soccer the guy acts like the doctors will have the amputate his leg.
