Thoughts on Whisenhunt going after "his" guy in Philip Rivers? Rivers is 33 and will enter next season looking to land the next major QB contract which may be upwards of $120M. As of today San Diego has around $25M to play with, but they also have a handful of guys they'll likely look to re-sign with that money, whereas the Titans could potentially have over $40M to use to sign Rivers to a 4-5 year extension, and have no scheduled free agents they must have back. With so many average players the Titans could easily float having Rivers high dollar contract on the books. I know this is a short term fix, but in a draft that guarantees nothing QB-wise, why not ensure we're competitive for at least the next few years?
