    1. If you didn't notice, the Titans stunk last year. But not as much as the Raiders.

    2. You have a big collection of noname and has-beens. The first might have potential, the later is going downhill.

    3. Honestly, i'll take your Nnamdi Asomugha. He's the only guy on the Raiders team I see as a clear-cut upgrade on the Titans starting 11.
I might think different after the season, but right now there are just too many question marks about your defense.

Lets try it another way list your top 5 players on defense. 1 N Asomugha 2 R seymour 3 LB Trevor Scott 4. Rolando McClain 5 Ss Tyvon Branch. (easy those guys start over anyone of the Titans at their position.)

    C Finnegan or N Asomugha

Anyone on your Dline or R seymour

    you get the point.

You just listed a rookie who's never played an NFL down as your 4th best defender. I think that speaks volumes.

To your point... I don't think anyone here will try to argue that we have a better corner than Asomugha. So yeah, you have us there. However, I think our D-line will be just as good, if not better than yours. Sure you have Seymour and Henderson. If only this were 2004 your excitement would be justified. You're way too focused on physical stats and name recognition.

And I'd honestly take Stephen Tulloch over Rolando McClain at this point. McClain may have the higher ceiling but that doesn't change the fact that he's 100% unproven in the NFL. McClain could be the next Patrick Willis or a complete bust. Give me the veteran who's been solid for the past two seasons over the rookie any day. For the record, I like McClain and think he will indeed be good. But the bottom line is he hasn't played a down in the NFL yet and you are saying he's "easily" better than any LB on our team. BS.

As for Tyvon Branch.... it's kinda difficult to argue since our safety play pretty much sucked last year. But I'm going to anyway. Hope and Griffin were both Pro Bowl safeties in 2008. So yeah I'll take them over Branch, who had 0 INTs and 3 forced fumbles last year. Although Branch does seem to be a tackling machine (124 total tackles last year). Impressive. But is he head and shoulders above our guys? I don't think so.

This will be brought back up later.

we'll see if you, average joe, is right or if the dozens of fantasy writers - for whom this is a career and have to regularly and unbiasedly (regarding teams) research all the players and teams - are right

Also I hate to go back into this, but you're bringing up everyone's initial complaints again: you're just comparing height numbers like this is basketball

Chances are if a safety has 130 tackles that's more indicative of bad run defense than individual skill. Not to say Branch is a bad player, I've never seen him play, but he spent all of his time in run support because the front seven couldn't handle it.

Okay you can think that but from everyone that has seen this guy in camp he is that good. The game seems like it comes so easy for him. I thought that was stretching it when he was alot of people favorite for DROY. Not now. The biggest question about MCClain has been how will he do in coverage. He has looked great in that area.

You will see the general(Defense leader) Rolando McClain come opening day. Than tell me how crazy it was listing him Raiders fourth best player on defense.

I'd look good going against the Raiders offense.

    Again, it doesn't say much.

    Overrated.

The word isn't very nice, but let's face it: There are a lot of things overrated.

There's sushi, the first snow, New Year's Eve, Bruce Springsteen, Julia Roberts and dark beers.

Oh, and plenty of NFL football players.

Brandon Jacobs slipped under 1,000 yards last season and averaged 3.7 ypc. (US Presswire)
By contrast, there are also a lot of underrated things. Some of them are: The first bite of pizza, a hot shower, a cold beer after a round of golf and tree-ripe peaches.

Oh, and plenty of NFL football players.

You guessed it. It's time again for my annual list of the NFL's overrated and underrated players.

I've picked one player in each category from each team. And there's a league-wide winner -- or loser, I guess, if you're the overrated player -- from each category.

The league's most underrated player is Oakland Raiders safety Tyvon Branch. Haven't seen him? Many haven't. But he's the real thing.

Branch had 124 tackles last season in his second year, his first as a starter. That was more than any other safety. He finished 10th in the league in tackles. He didn't have an interception, but he did have eight passes defensed and had eight tackles behind the line, a sack and two forced fumbles.

Branch recently turned 23, so he has a lot of good years in front of him. I like finding young safeties with Pro Bowl potential. When I first started this, Arizona's Adrian Wilson was one of my underrated guys. He has been a Pro Bowl player the past couple of seasons.
