well then I was agreeing with you then. It's still a dumb argument regardless of where you stand.

I'll agree it's a dumb argument to an extent...

But when you consider the fact that Oregon runs a unique type of offense in which many awful QBs have been able to excel in, it makes sense.

The issue with the Oregon offense is more to do with what it ASKS the QB to do more so than what the qb can do.

It eliminates extra steps that the pro game lives on. This creates the disparity of being able to scout Mariota properly. He is the opitomy of "wow" stats and head scratch tape.

He rarely was forced to read the defense. He would only make changes at the line some 4-5 times a game. The types of reps that move a college qb to the pros were very limited.

I think this is magnified because of oregons reputation/offense - many of these same questions are asked with spread QBs every year. No real difference.

We need to be looking clearly at ceiling and transitional skills. Just like every year.

I'll give a quick and easy reason why I am scared to take him - inconsistent accuracy. These things rarely change. If ever tbqfh. Couple that with the average depth of his throws and I'm really concerned moving forward.

Can he win games when implemented into the right system? Obviously. Is that Whiz's system? Even more scared of him considering whiz doesn't like to change his system to fit his qb.

And that's just the tip of he iceberg and has little to do with his school.

Haven't really had the time to do what I like to. Been stuck between work and everything else going in. I didn't know the date of the draft til yesterday.

The argument against qbs from Oregon is extremely valid, since they have ran this gimmick offense designed to put up huge numbers with a athlete, not necessarily a qb, at the qb position, for basically forever.

Not many schools have that same history with one offense...especially not a gimmicky one.

I guarantee the next Oregon qb is going to put up numbers very similar to mariota.

Probably true, but that shouldn't detract from what MM was able to do with it. No one before him took that offense to the levels he did, he didnt just come in a fill-in at QB like everyone else before him, he came in and took over.

You should stop looking at Joey Harrington as an example, not even close to the prospect MM is.

The difference with MM is that he has the basic tools where Thomas was much more running athlete. Not taking anything away from the offense however.

Personal preference of mine - but MM personality bores the piss outta me. I don't know if I could be led by a team with him at the helm. That fire... That it factor of energy to believe in the situation and outcome... 3rd and long with the game on the line, down by 3... I'm not sure he elevates the talent around him.

That is what really scares me with him. I'd be more interested in trading the second overall to the skins for a swap of firsts and griffin.
