Their mascot is Uncle Sam with rolled up sleeves with those giant Hulk-like fists they'll sell at the stores for $49.95 for the kids to wear. Has to be a surplus of them at some Chinese factory somewhere.
You know, I think it's time we give up that self granted nickname. I've never heard anyone outside of Nashvile call it that.

It's not a "self given" name.
At the time - not all that long ago - Nashville had more higher education institutes than anyplace else. THAT's why it is called that. May still be true.
