At this point I can’t see Radunz playing guard. Every interview with Vrabel seems to indicate Radunz will compete with Frere at tackle. One of the two could be the eventual replacement for Lewan if they up their game, though Radunz has been slow to develop since arriving from ND State. JRob has clearly learned his lesson on taking small school guys, and went almost entirely Power 5 players in this years draft.

At this point it sounds like Jamarco Jones is penciled in at LG, but I’d expect more competition brought in at guard as cuts happen around the league. Pass protection is key this year and Jones is actually an upgrade in that regards from Saffold last year.

At this point my prediction is:
    Lewan
    J. Jones
    B. Jones
    Davis
    Frere

Nicholas Little-Brother isn't ready for NFL pass protection.

It feels like for the last several years we have had failed attempts at fixing the line. Not sure NPF is the answer either. Why pick guys that you know are going to need to bulk up when we need help now. Maybe Radunz gets it figured out for this year and then flips to LT next year with NPF ready for RT. I don’t see Lewan and that salary making it to the following season, especially if he misses significant time with injury again.

People should be too quick to give up on Randuz.

Brad Hopkins struggled as a rookie too

I think Raygunz is more likely to start at RT this year and probably would be ahead of NPF as heir apparent to Lewan. Conklin needed a lot of help his rookie year too.

    I think so too.

If you recall, Roos spent a year a RT before moving to LT.

Little-Brother (what his name translates to in English) needs to improve a lot in pass protection and needs to get stronger. That won't happen overnight. Hence why he is unlikely to start day 1.

Remember too how bad Nate Davis was his rookie year.

I know hindsight is 20/20 and at the time it didn't appear that we had cap space to resign Conklin. Just imagine if we did though - no Isaiah Wilson, No Dillon Radunz, no NPF. Think of what we could have done with those picks instead.

I still can't believe we didn't address guard at some point in the draft. I hope someone gets let go before the start of the season that we can pounce on, or it could be a long year.

They should've taken the money they gave to saffold and put it to conk.

Then take a Guard in the first, instead of Panda.

we would have had to franchise tag Conklin because he was pissed that we did not pick up his 5th yr option. He was not just going to sign with us. He was going to hit FA.....sure in hindsight we should have picked up his 5th yr option, but he played like crap coming off his injury....can't blame JRob at all for not picking it up.
