I think it's more about scheme fit. I could quickly see Campbell or Wreh-Wilson stepping into the starting lineup and pushing verner into the nickel spot or even an alternate Free safety. We want big man press corners. He's kinda not the fit. Trying to find a suitable place to use his talent and see if safety can't accent his natural instincts.

If you're going to experiment, OTA's are as good a time as any. I won't really look in to this too much until I start to hear that Verner looks good at safety or see him at safety in the preseason.

Also we really have no depth at FS if Griff goes down.

I don't see anything coming of this. We have Wilson who would play FS before Verner. Verner belongs in the slot.

We're talking about more 3 safety sets. If 1 or 2 starting safeties get hurt we need people who can step in and not skip a beat.

Well, they do think McCourty is better than verner for some reason, the staff and fo that rewarded griffin for his "play," and this is the same staff that gave mouton playing time, so I don't really trust their judgment.

I've said before that this is a good idea. I actually tweeted Vern after his rookie year and asked him if he'd be open to playing safety. He replied and said he'd be open to it but doubted they'd want him to.

This experiment tells me something else. It may be that things are clicking for Campbell and Wreh-Wilson is looking good enough where they'd trust them both to be on the field at the same time.

we have no depth at FS as long as 'la Vagician' is not down either. Might as well make the other 10 guys run around with one of those parachutes cause all 'la Vagician' does is make everyone around him worse

Verner is a very smart instinctfull (if thats even a word) football player. He has great instincts that makes up for his lack of athletic ability which makes him a very solid #2 CB. The problem is we have two solid #2 cb's with him and McCourty, we just dont have a true #1 CB.
