Just trying to find some common ground...not trying to be a hero. I respect anyone that served,

It would be boring....my interest lies in prop jobs....lol. I do love airplanes though. Been to Wright-Patterson, Eglin and Pensecola museums. Oh yeah, and the Smithsonian Air and Space thing too.

yes those positions exist... I was not airborne qualified but I was trained for the position. No difference in the training just the airborne part - survival training, different personal gear, ect., it was literally freezing while working. I was told this, but did not appreciate it until I had to do it

I will leave those to the guys that were there. My brother never said much. He flew OH-6 scout copters, and he would "troll" for gunfire while a gunship trailed him up high. He crashed a few from taking hits. He said it was crazy back then. An OH-6 is small, but he said he crammed as many wounded as he could and got them back. You did what you had to do.

Hey Doc, where in Afghanistan did you deploy to? And did you ever have RPA (Drone) support overhead?

Helmand Province and Khost Province. Yes. We had a ton of support when we pulled overwatch for the closing of FOB Tillman.

Spent 8 years in the Army. 1989-1997. During that time I was stationed in Mainz Germany, Ft. Campbell (x 2) Camp Greaves Korea, Deployed to Sinai Penninsula (Multinational force and observers) and finally Ft. wainwright alaska. Glad to be with other vets on this site! I am also a Disabled American Verteran...(nothing too horrible) just some injuries sustained while in.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
