Gotta say, I'm pretty happy with WalMart during times like these. We're hiring, seeing record numbers, and getting raises while everyone else is losing jobs.

But it is redneck heaven, no doubt.

My parents were natives of Little Rock; my grandfather a state senator. From them i learned the proper way to hold a jug was to put an index finger flipped backwards through the hole and lift it to your mouth with your elbow. Classic hillbilly move.

The stiff flange around the neck of a 2-liter bottle is designed to be used the same way: lift it with your index and middle fingers, palm up, and raise the bottom with your elbow...perfect pour every time, and no collapsing of the bottle's body (as I often see women and teens doing when trying to pour with both hands around the bottle).

So, you see, Arkansas is a great place to learn how to drink. If you're a sober type who moves there, you will very soon wish you weren't.
