Over the last month, the Titans defense has allowed its opponents to convert 13 third downs on 44 attempts (29.5 percent). That’s the fifth-best percentage in the NFL in that time frame.

And after allowing opponents to score more than 30 points in seven of the first nine games, the Titans have slowed down the Dolphins (3), Jaguars (24) and Texans (24).

Said defensive coordinator Jerry Gray: “Points are coming down, but you still want to win. You don’t want to look and say, ‘We held a team to 20 points’ and you lost the game. To me, that is still guys trying to search for stats and I’ll never do that. … But it’s getting better.”

What they need to clean up is the one big screwup which leads to the easy TD for the opponent. It's happened twice the last two games.

And the Texans could have hung 40 on the Titans Sunday if they wanted.

They are getting better, but I wonder what they could do with a decent safety, a really good DE and DT!

Once they got past the first 5 weeks, they have played okay -- good enough to win. Fix the safety problem, add a playmaker, and stop turning over the ball on offense --- and we could have a good D.

The Texans only scored one TD when we didn't turn the ball over, and even that was a fluke play because Griffin is retarded. What makes you think they could've hung up 40 pts?

Once they were up 21-3, they closed the playbook and went ultra-conservative. Foster and AJ basically got another bye week.

This defense isn't far away. The LB trio is good (if healthy) with Brown, Mccarthy & Ayers. Guys on the DL like Casey, Martin, Marks, Wimbley & Morgan can stay. Add a PLAYMAKER to this group via 1st round pick and watch how good this DL becomes. I'm content with the CBs. Add ONE safety (not being too greedy) and you may have a top 10 defense.

At least we aren't going to break the record for most points allowed in a season.
