Interesting. I hope this isn't hyperbole.
Derrick Morgan confirms he's been working as an outside linebacker in DC Ray Horton's new 3-4 defense.
A base 4-3 defensive end ever since high school, Morgan has never played in a 3-4. "Now that I have been in the defense a couple of months, I love it. It may be a blessing," Morgan said. "I never thought I would drop in coverage, but now that I am doing it, it is becoming more natural." Morgan is down to 260 pounds after playing near 270 last season. He'll likely play with his hand in the dirt on obvious passing downs. We also can't rule out a trade.

Whisenhunt confirmed this a while back during phase 2 of OTA's I believe...

Ayers, Morgan, Philips, and Wimbley are all getting looks as DE's and OLB's this week. Whisenhunt pointed out Horton wants "many different looks" with his defense.

I know a lot of you disagree but I honestly think Morgan can excel at OLB. If he really is getting comfortable at dropping back into coverage he's going to be a beast.

Im probably the most optimistic fan you'll find, but what makes you think Morgan will excel at a position he's never played?

Couldn't be any worse at OLB than he is at DE.

He's super slow. Can't see OLB working for him. He's too slow to be a DE, much less LB.

He's not "too slow", he had a faster 3-cone drill time than Akeem Ayers.
