Combine numbers hasn't even happened. DEs are always drafted on potential. Zeke has all the potential. His production on the field has been stellar lately. He's growing quickly as a player. Even if you just watch the team as a whole he stands out.
Of course it hasn't happen but a guy like him will have great combine numbers everyone will jump on board for him. He is fitting into a good player he was a walk on at BYU but they also don't play the best teams either. Theirs no argument that he has all the potential in the world, whose to say he won't be the next Jamaal Anderson.
if we are talking about drafting on "potential" than why isn't Margus Hunt in the talk than what makes Ezekiel Ansah so different from him. Both started out late in their careers both athetically gifted individuals. In case you missed Hunt in his bowl game heres a nice little article on him. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf...no-state-offense-hawaii-042657867--ncaaf.html
If I was going to draft one of these guys in with our first pick it would be Hunt he has the same exact measurables in terms of "potential" as Anash with more size and the production, I can see his draft stock sky rocketing if he has a really good combine.
I fully get the "potential" defense. And how other also have "potential" I'm just making the case that, that's how DEs are drafted. There is rarely a DE that requires a first over all pick... Next year Clowney... But holy ****... Dude is a monster. Everything else? It's guess work. With the highest ceiling and fit for a team and need. "Safest pick" lol how's Morgan doing with that label.
Reminder that, this is in regards to me saying he won't slip to the third. Not me saying we are for sure gonna pick him. Just how the draft will scoop him up early.
I fully believe the year we drafted Morgan we wanted Jason Pierre-Paul, however I'm not disappointed with Morgan at all if we had a dominating defensive tackle I think the sack numbers will go up. Morgan does a great job in run support and applying pressure. If you look at other defensive ends Damontre Moore, Bjoern Werner, Alex Okafor they have been productive and consistent thats something you have to take into consideration. You can add guys like Jackson Jeffcoat and Brandon Jenkins before injuries took their season.
Hunt's ceiling is equally as high as Ansah I just think he has a higher floor to go along with his sky high potential.
