This team used to be one of the best in winning percentage and could be counted on periodically to make trips to the postseason since they started in 1999.

Since 2008 this team has not made the postseason and after five straight years we are entering that dangerous territory of being one of a few teams who are always falling too short.

As of now there are only a few teams out there who have waited five years or longer and they are..........

Arizona has not made it since 2009 nearly five years but are 10-5 and clearly on the upswing.
Buffalo has not made it since 1999 going on fifteen straight years the longest current streak.
Carolina has not made it since 2008 but will this year at 11-4 and are another team on the rise.
Cleveland has not made it since 2002 they are sadly showing no signs of changing.
Dallas has not made it since 2009 and are in danger of a third straight 8-8 season.
Jacksonville has not made it since 2007 and are showing no signs of improving.
Miami has not made it since 2008 but are showing signs of improving.
Oakland has not made it since 2002 and are nowhere close to improving.
San Diego has not made it since 2009 but possibly could this season.
St. Louis has not made it since 2004 but are slowly improving.
Tampa Bay has not made it since 2007 season no signs of improving.
Tennessee has not made it since 2008 season hopefully coaching change is coming.

    Five long years

we are not too far off. Wins against the first games against the Colts and Jags and we would have the playoffs all but locked up.

We usually are not mathematically knocked out until late in the year, thats close enough.

Thanks for posting this. I had been curious about what teams had not made playoffs longer than us but hadn't had the time to really look into it.

Hopefully this changes next year. Could and should of been this year, but we were held back by poor coaching and inconsistent QB play -- sound familiar?

I can't believe it was 5 years ago already. So much wasted time.

When was the last playoff win? 2003??? 10 years ago?

We had VY's worthless 1 game playoff berth in 2007 I think.. and then the fruitless great season in 2008. Before those... I've lost almost all recollection of the victories in the early 2000s.

I'd argue Jacksonville is on the upswing.

I said in September, if we don't make it this year, we're no longer a middle tier franchise, we've sunken to Cleveland Browns bad. :anon:

Definitely in the lower third of franchises. Small fanbase.. no significant wins in quite awhile..

Titans are simply insignificant. Season ticket holders of other franchises moan when the Titans come to town.. because no Titans game is a hot ticket. Nobody wants to see this team play.. even most Titans fans. I sure wouldn't have considered it a loss if I didn't see a second of Titans football this year.
