Gregg Williams turned down chance to return to Titans

Our defense and the scheme (fisher/cecil) had more to do with 0 and 6 than anything. Fisher has said many times in the last 14 months that we have never been a blitzing team. Not true, we were with williams, and hell, fisher learned to coach under buddy ryan! Jim S. started us not blitzing! In this league you must pressure the qb. You can do it with 4 fine if not you better bring it, or you will suck on defense like we did last year..............On the nickey thing and special teams .........they were awful we need to make a coaching change there as well. Being to loyal to assistants, and being arrogant, and bull headed is why fisher gets hammered on this board.

 

Yeah, Jim didn't blitz... of course, with Big Al, he didn't HAVE to blitz.

I wonder what Jim's defense would have been like without that one player? Would we have seen blitzing..?

 

No kidding! Look at who the Saints played in the post season, Warner, Manning, favre. Why would anyone have good stats playing those teams? The defense did enough to win.

The Saints were 25th in pass defense this year but isn't that partly due to the fact that teams threw the ball a lot against them to keep up with new orleans offense?

The were 6th in the league in most pass plays against and only gave up an average of 6.2 yards a pass play which is pretty good. They had an above average number of sacks and ints on top of that.

 

Titans have expreienced dehr Schwartzies D minus Fat Albert, and it wasn't pretty. Same scheme without even the threat of pressure. Every QB looked like a HOFer. Ugly. Why I was excited, and still hopeful despite 2009, about CC becomming DC. Thought he would at least do whatever it took to create pressure on QB. CC did blitz the first Q against Seahawks in w17, hoping that is just the beginning ... hoping I get 6 numbers in powerball as well.
