Of course he's going to make more than 1.2M, holy crap pal, I never said thats all he'd get, I said thats what I would pay him (obviously I don't think very highly of him). wow

Soxcat took it literal? Dudes not a worthy starter on any team. Someone can pick up his salary but I would suggest it not be us. Simple as that. It doesn't matter how much you CAN get him for.

I could see how that may have been misconstrued by him now that I re-read it.

Unless you know I'm not very fond of Marks, it might look like the following post wants Marks to stay.

Yea I think that's what it was. You were just saying you wouldn't pay him in general.

SenDerrick Marks had what I'd say was a good year this past year, and by good I mean better than crappy.

So 1 out of his 4 years to me isn't good enough to warrant a big contract. He's finally proven he is however good enough to play in this league (despite what I say), but for the time it took him to develop, he's never really helped us.

I have no attachment to this guy, and up until 2012 used to call him Question Marks. I have no problems watching him walk way for a pay day somewhere. (I might even welcome it)

I just don't like the idea of a player holding up a roster spot when there's always been a better option out there for us that his presence has kept us from getting...

We could make better use of that 2nd DT spot, and heres our chance by not re-signing him.

Exactly. I'd rather see him gone and Martin get a shot at serious starting time. I think we have a slight bias and tendency to let the vets "lose" their role than us taking it from them for the most part. I think we can easily get along without marks going forward. He truely doesn't do anything that's irreplaceable. And he's certainly not worth paying starter money when Martin will likely over take his role going forward if he was here. Then we would be paying a bench warmer, starter money. Nonsense.

Now I agree and I want to replace Marks because I don't think he has much upside so despite showing some improvement each year he is not the long term anwer. I'd rather get a monster to plug the running lanes and then have specialists to pass rush. We have to stop the run first.
    JCBRAVE high fives this.
