No to Hooker! I don't want "another" non-tackling Safety. We just got rid of one a few years ago in Michelle Whiffin.

I think Hooker is the obvious choice. He has rare traits that you can't coach. His range is beyond elite and we need a good rangy safety. Adams will be a good pro, but I think Hooker will end up a perennial all-pro guy.

With Adams you'd have 3 guys who are more SS types, with Byard being able to play both and Cyprien and Adams.

I've been defending Cyp, but Adams is a better player and it's not really close. Those who say he's just a "box" safety haven't seen him play.

Adams is much better than Hooker at this point as well. He can't tackle, which will be exposed in Year 1, and he won't have the best CBs in the land to be paired with, so if he makes a wrong read on a much more advanced QB and ends up in the wrong place, it will be deadly. And forget having him as a last line of defense. He's too raw for a top 5 player.

Adams is Cyprien without the NFL experience.

Hooker at least offers the center fielding ability no one on the roster has.

Either of these guys being considered a top pick shows how weak the top of this draft is. Trade the **** down.

Adams is good in coverage. Hooker is a horrible tackler.

Hooker is not a horrible tackler - he just takes a bad angle here and there. I'd rather have a S who can track a deep ball from sideline to sideline who develops a more sturdy technique in tackling with Dick LeBeau than I would another box safety on the roster..............

In terms of what they bring on the field in terms of skill, I'd rather have hooker. If he reaches his potential, he will be a force in this league.

But that's a huge if. The guy has one year of tape. Is raw as hell.

Adams is not going to be as dynamic, but he is uber solid. And his leadership is universally gushed over, something we could use in the back of our D.

Adams is the safe pick. Hooker is the swing for the fences pick. I don't know yet which jrob is. I suspect the former.

If you draft hooker, it will be at least two years of watching make incredible plays... followed by wtf?! Moments.

Adams won't give as many of the former. But none of the latter.

To me, we often forget the simple hr side of this process. If I'm jrob, it comes down to... how badly does hooker want to be great? How hard is he willing to work? If I hand this kid millions of dollars, will he still be hungry?

That is the deciding factor. If I think hooker is burning to not be the next ed reed, but to be even better, then i draft him.

If i have any doubts about his desire, I pass. The league is full of athletic marvels who never do jack squat. Hooker could easily be another.
