Is the NFL in decline?

Yeah, I feel the same way. The rules are getting way too pussified. You can't shoot an imaginary bow and arrow or you get fined? I can understand not wanting celebrations taken to the extreme like TO and Joe Horn were doing years back (FWIW I even enjoyed that and have no problem with it personally). But the big personalities and their antics are fun to watch, imo at least.

And as has been said, big hits are a part of what made this game so great in the first place and they are becoming a rarity due to rules and ridiculous fines. IMO these guys know what they are getting into when they declare for the draft and sign on the dotted line. I get wanting to protect them to an extent but not at the expense of the game. It seems like good old fashioned hard nosed football is becoming a thing of the past.

There's a plethora of things you can point to really. But the bottom line is this product just isn't as entertaining as it once was. And IMO this isn't the game so many of us fell in love with years ago.

Last night there was a roughing the QB. The guy was on his hands and knees, and couldn't even tell if the QB had released the ball or not, and gave him a shot above the knees. Even the commentators said how silly it was. Almost every play a receiver is being grabbed, and the handchecking is out of control, so few passes are being completed, but a lot of PI calls, or lack of.

When I flash back to 20 years ago, I am not sure I am even watching football anymore. Its the same, but its not as well.

And you wont hear much about. The people that dont really like that stuff just tune out. Unlike me, most people believe stupidity is better ignored than addressed.
