I plan on purchasing an Ipod Touch in the next week or two and I have a few questions. Hopefully some members on here have one, or maybe you don't have one but know about jailbreaking one. I'm not well educated in computer talk so when I google my questions I just get completely lost. What exactly is jailbreaking? Some people I have talked to tell me that it just enables you to download games. Google also tells me that if you do jailbreak your Ipod that it may void your warranty or cause bricking? I'm guessing bricking isn't a good thing? So if anyone has any answers for me feel free to post...
bricking .. that means you just turned it into an iPod brick hacking and unlocking is more reserved for the iPhone save yourself some grief and just enjoy it I wouldn't do ANYTHING to it that would void the warranty ... not at least until the warranty has expired
Jailbreaking basically means hacking it so you can install any available programs on it that you want. But as Puck alluded to, you risk turning it into a very expensive paperweight. Come June, you'll be able to install any program that is available via Apple (though you'll have to pay about $20 more for that feature if you buy the iPod before then)
Thanks for the information. Starkiller, do you know what programs are available? I'm just curious as to what I can unlock by jailbreaking it.
