You guys see this thing? Kinda interesting. http://www.nfl.com/videos/n-if-l/0ap2000000133348/N-if-L-What-if-Harbaugh-had-stuck-with-Alex-Smith
That's silly. If Harbaugh had stuck with Alex Smith, the Niners finish 10-5-1 instead of 11-4-1 and get a #5 seed instead of a #2 seed. In this case they would've played in Washington in the first round and won that game. But they would've lost the following week to the Falcons.
... they won with Kaepernick. They would have won with Smith. And Smith would have scored on that final drive more than likely where Kaep sh** the bed like we all knew he would.
There's a bunch of these videos, makes you wonder what coulda been if Dyson broken the plane in the Super Bowl. Might not have ever drafted Bulluck, coulda gotten stuck with Ian Gold or somebody. May have even lead us to take Tom Brady somehow.
So Alex Smith could've put up 45 points on the Packers and 28 points on the Falcons? Highly doubt that. If Kaepernick played bad in one of the playoff games, you might have an argument, but he played great in all games. Had a rough first half in the Super Bowl (just two bad throws though, really). That was it. If you say they would've won the Super Bowl with Alex Smith, why didn't they do that the year before? Kaepernick was the difference.
Look at their stats. It's not as if Kaep came in and did any better than Smith. Difference in the end of the Super Bowl game? Kap sucked it up in the red-zone. A place where Smith had proven to be effective.
