Yes and no. You'd obviously charge more per ticket since there are fewer games. It would also increase interest.

The worst thing for the NBA is it starts right in the middle of football season and then gets overshadowed by March Madness from February to April. The only thing people get excited for is the playoffs because of bad timing, too many useless teams and too many meaningless games.

Why do you think the NFL is so successful? The games are entertaining, sure, but there are so few games that they all count for something and most teams are incredibly even since most NFL games are decided by less than a score.

The NFL has also done a great job of making the whole year their season with free agency and the draft.

I don't think you really could. There's no way the Predators could charge double per ticket and survive. They can hardly sell them now. They would fail for sure. And think about the worst teams in the league.. once playoffs are out of the question.. ticket sales go belly up. It would be death for many US NHL teams and the Winnipeg Jets. Only the Original Six teams and a few other Northeastern/Canadian teams would make it out alive.

NFL survives with only 8 home games because the franchises were set up to survive off of this.
