Redbox? They haven't run Redbox out of business. Those things are everywhere.

Actually, their profits are up 12% from last year.

Lol - I do not pity Blockbuster. That's like feeling sorry the devil got bullied by children.
Streaming killed physical rental. Doesn't matter what entity is associated.
Blockbuster was the biggest video villain of all time. They earned their own death.

Redbox is still all over but it's way more expensive than Netflix and offers literally crap as far as selection goes. Might as well read a book.
There are many other options to Netflix.., iTunes, Amazon, on Demand etc. All more expensive than Netflix..

I consider walking up to a Redbox kinda like gambling in Tunica

Probably WONT be anyting I really want. Probably will be something I am willing to settle for.

But there MIGHT be something I really want to see, It could happen and every once in a while it does. But I never get a complimentary buffett

In the sense that they have new releases (which usually suck)... yes. Otherwise no.

I was curious to see if Redbox Instant was worth anything, so I checked out their selection... All good movies they have are already on Netflix.

I think services like Netflix really did a lot to solve the all out run on file sharing. However, free file sharing, in one capacity or another, will always be around. Regardless of what methods ISPs use to block it, counter-methods will always be introduced.

That being said, I wouldnt be terribly brave with perpetual price markups if I were Netflix or history may just repeat itself.

Correct. But compare their physical collection vs Netflix's streaming.

Redbox actually has releases... that are new releases. Netflix gets like 2 new releases per month and they're usually the crappiest or straight to dvd types.

And it's only 1$ per rental... rent 10 movies and you're getting better from them than a month's worth of netflix.

Only thing Netflix has is TV series.... but if you have cable, that's useless too.

I use Redbox from time to time on new release movies that are actually good.

But... I see pretty much all of the good ones in theaters. Every now and then I forget to see one and I'll get it at Redbox.

I am broke as hell right now, but I still can't complain about losing $8 a month to Netflix. Between movies, TV shows, and documentaries, I have gotten my money's worth and then some.
