    it's odd timing considering Leopard isn't ready
    I always thought that they'd release when the new OS did

    I'm going to make sure that if I get one now, I'll be upgraded when Leopard comes out ...... or maybe I'll just wait

    but I'm getting one for sure, I'm giving this on to the kid

    It's out now because schools start in about a month. That's a big block of their sales.

    The MacBook might be in line for an upgrade too since it's also a consumer-lever Mac, but I haven't heard anything about it.

    btw .... a real coup for Apple would be for them to get the iMac under the $1k price point ... and not sure if they're doing it still but they were offering free iPod's to student purchasers

    They do have an education iMac for $899 (the $999 iMac with an education discount).
