But there was Black Swan!!! That movie was original. But it sucked. People don't buy original films all that often. They've created that monster. Supporting all the remakes. Now we've got Jamie foxx is now a spider man villain. The industry is heading for hell.
One of the last original movies to come out was Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Instead of people taking the time to see the original, they waited until they could get it in english.
Hollywood always has, and always will be, a business. Sure I prefer an original story to a rehash. But Hollywood makes what sells. Michal Bay sells. Your problem is with the public/consumer, not Hollywood. But there are still plenty of good, original stories being told if you look hard enough. The average movie-goer tends to put style over substance. Thus that is what Hollywood values. Although in my original comment that you quoted I was simply saying I don't buy the 'Remake/Reboot/Sequel somehow tarnishes the original'. I wasn't saying I'm necessarily fond of them in general. The bottom line is you aren't being forced to watch it. You say you "don't want to see remakes and the same stories over and over for the rest of my life". Well, you don't have to. There are plenty of other options. I just don't get this whining about remakes phenomenon. And I've seen Idiocracy. Good movie.
I'd like to see movies remade that are RIPE for it. Movies that missed the mark, could've been good but something didn't work. Case in point, I'd like to see Krull remade... and done right.
Not with the way things are now you won't. There have been great story lines to come out of Hollywood like 30 years ago. Lets face it though , reading a book doesn't compare to going to the movies and watching a kicka** original movie. The best talent isn't even directing movies they are kept suppressed by people who would rather give their friends jobs. Hollywood is horrible because it is ran by the same people who run our banks and look how that turned out. I guess thats what happens when you let foreigners come in and try to run companys that are suppose to grab Americans attention when they can't even relate with Americans in the first place. Thanks big bro. I'm done.
