he could stop tearing his ACL that would be nice
I'm far from trying to argue. Though it seems like the standard keeps changing as we continue this conversation. Now he "plays small" previously he was too short... Too small... Now it's muscle tone..and plays how he plays?
Honestly I like you as one of the poster on here, but I still have to disagree. He's always played hard. Flying all around, always near the football. Comparing him to Lewis was based on size. Not play.
I agree he's not the long term answer. I however don't believe that's due to size or effort or his muscle tone... He's just genetically injury prone. Has been... That's why he slipped in the draft... He gets hurt.
btw when did I ever say it wasn't about his size? You're arguing with yourselves at this point...
The MLB is the key run stopper on the defense... The rb is the key runner... They meet...a lot.
You frankly said he played small and that got him hurt... What did I mistake?
Okay this is my last post about this and we've had plenty of McCarthy conversations where I have said he's injury prone and I feel like we're going in circles in this thread now.
-It's not totally about his size but if he was a bit bigger I think that would help. He's playing MLB, he's going to get hit a lot and he's going be playing a physical game. He has comparable size to a Lewis and Willis but that's where it stops. Even if he was totally healthy I would say he could be a top 10 MLB maybe even make a pro bowl but that's about it.
-McCarthy is injury prone, that was his knock in the draft. If he wasn't he would've been drafted a bit earlier. His size was never really a pro or con coming into the draft, he had normal size as a MLB but no one ever said how he uses his size or how big in person he really is. He wraps up, tackles well, and reads the play pretty quickly and has some nice quickness. That's his game.
-Bottomline. We both agree he's injury prone, I think some of that has to do with his size. Even though his size is normal for the position it's more of how he plays. He doesn't seem to be that kind of force in the middle like a top MLB usually is. I think in a couple years his career will be as that utility type who comes off the bench and can play a couple positions at LB.
he does play small but I never said that his actual size was his problem
I have a 6'7 friend I play basketball with, he plays small. That's why we lost in the playoffs last year because he wouldn't freaking rebound, see what I'm saying? His size has nothing to do with it when he's playing different.
comparing measurables for two different positions though...if you want to throw a 5'8 MLB out there be my guest
Yea one is built to run and the other is to tackle... But the runner gets tackled yet seems to stay healthier than the MLB. That's the only thing I was getting it. And yes we do agree on this issue. Just different points of which.
