he's got to leave
I understood it as this:
The only guaranteed money is a signing bonus. Amano has a signing bonus of: $1,450,000 in '13 and '14. His base salary is $3,935,000 in '13 and $4,187,500 in '14. If we cut him we'd be liable for the signing bonuses totaling $2,900,000 in "dead money" - thus saving $1,035,000 in '13 and would be completely off the books in '14.
Here's the trick - after June 1, if a player is cut, the team can stretch their salary cap liability over the next 2 seasons. However, the free agency period is over by then and most of the worthy free agents will be gobbled up.
Who cares what the savings is or isn't, he's simply not qualified/talented enough to hold a roster spot on an NFL team
if we have to pay him to go away, do it, he's that much of a liability
Amano goes away from the NFL forever and we get a million dollars. What a tough decisioin.
and we can sleep easy this summer knowing he's gone
We def don't have to "pay him". We'd be saving $1,035,000 in '13 & $4,187,500 in '14. Amano is terrible, he deserves the boot. Hopefully he goes to the Colts and becomes a starter.
Andrew Luck would smart to increase his life insurance coverage.
I hate you '769' - for real, I read this as 'They Officially Cut Eugene Thread'.....
Its funny you made a thread about it as well, this topic has surfaced and resurfaced in just about EVERY thread that lasted longer then 2 pages.... lol
Not sure much more has to be said, 'cut the fool' already!
Who signed this clown to an extension? It was Fisher/Reinfeldt, right?
No,,,it should be Velasco/Turner battling for the C. Spot.
