It does even out because his supporting cast is just as weak as the defenses he is playing. I don't care how good of an athlete you are, if your line isn't worth a damn, then you won't be either. Seriously, it's not like CJ had an o-line full of All-Americans that were allowing him to run wherever he wanted to. He was getting hit by D-1 athletes just as often as any other RB in the country was.

He's a wopping 5-6 pounds lighter than Reggie. He could easily be above 205 by the time training camp rolls around. It doesn't matter anyway, he's not meant to be a "strong" back. If the FO is looking to draft a guy that has 350+ carry potential then they're barking up the wrong tree with CJ.

Poor analysis gloat! Once again using a highlight reel as a way to judge a back when 95% of his carries are not on that reel.

    The facts:

In his previous 3 seasons chris johnson averaged a breath taking 4 yards a carry.

Chris johnson had 20 games in his career where he averaged less than 4 yards a carry.

You have seen the highlights here are the low lights.

    2004
    Southern Mississippi.... 11 carries...23 yards...2.1 ypc
    NC state...................13 carries....15 yards...1.2 ypc

    2005
    Rice.........................13 carries......3 yards.......0.2 ypc

    2006

    Navy.....11 carries.......28 yards..................2.5 ypc

    2007

    NC state.....19 carries....63 yards.............3.3 ypc

I left out his bad games against west virginia and v tech. Rice is a known defensive powerhouse.

So gloat where was that great vision the ability to juke people and break tackles in that rice game? Should we make a video of those 13 carries and then decide if he is good?

    The mighty owls of rice!

The 2005 rice defense that held the great chris johnson to almost 0 yardage in 13 carries gave up an average of 5.4 ypc that year to the opposition.

Rice's opponents that year averaged 212 yards rushing a game with a 5.4 average and the incredible chris johnson accounted for 3 of those yards.

    thank you..

    Nice RollTide!

Of course we would take McFadden if he were there, the guy is amazing. I think he'll have a great pro career. Anyone thinking he won't is going out on a limb to make a bad prediction against a guy that had a great SEC career.

I like the list except for Mario Manningham. Why wouldn't we take Manningham if he ends up being the best WR available in the 2nd round? Yeah, he wouldn't be my first choice for WR, but if we trade down a little or somehow he is there in the 2nd, he'd have to be considered.

So if he was playing on a field with a junior high team against another junior high team it would be the same? I understand that his line vs. the d-line are equal but his ability to break tackles and outrun guys was much easier. On some of his long runs if he was playing a good defense they would have caught him for like a 5 yard gain. I'm not saying the guy is terrible, I'm just saying there's no way he's better than mcfadden.

Okay but what your saying is you wouldn't want Manningham in the 1st right? That's what the list is about. Players the Titans shouldn't draft in the 1st. Now if the Titans take a DL player in the 1st and in the 2nd Manningham is available then they'd be crazy not to take him.

    My mistake, yeah.

Manningham wouldn't be my first choice, but he could have a good career. It all depends on whose available. There are players at other positions I'd rather us take in the first round than Manningham, but if that list grew thin, then he would be considered for the first round selection.

However I think that's doubtful because I think a lot of positions we don't need will be drafted before us, making our choice that much more difficult.

In the end, RollTide - Chris Johnson shows FAR MORE ability to run than McFadden does. Far more.
And that's all that we need to see. The 'low lights' you post about seem more like the cause of bad blocking. 13 carries, 0 yards??? That's blocking completely. There's no other explanation.

Not every team creates 10 ft gaps to run through like Arkansas did for McFadden.

McFadden played against the SEC! Demeco Ryans, Simeon Castille, Quentin Groves, Pat Sims, Pat Lee, Jonathan Goff, Derrick Harvey, Chevis Jackson, Jarvis Moss, Glenn Dorsey, Jerod Mayo, and alot more those are just off the top of my head.

How many east carolina games did you actually watch this year? Rolltide is correct in the sense you just can't look at a highlight video and determine how good a runner is. And I think if mcfadden went against rice with no offensive linemen at all he would have a good chance of getting a yard on 13 carries.
