Maybe we'll have some 3-4 front's this year?
Jerry gray is one tricky guy!
He'll likely play DT for us. He was a 3-4 DE, normally translates into 43 DT.
Sammie Hill 6'4 330 26, 4 seasons 95 tackles 4 sacks
Ropati Pitoitua 6'8 315 27, 3 seasons 73 tackles 3 sacks.
Main difference is that Hill was a 4th rd pick and Pitoitua was not drafted so he was wasted for 2 years on a practice squad or not playing.
Production is similar. Both guys are fairly athletic for their size.
Except the Webster himself said Pitoitui gives us size at defensive end so given the information we have he is going to be used as a DE at some point or another. In fact Webster quote was he gives us size at defensive end and a guy that can play inside on some downs which was a role played by Kevin Carter last time Greg Williams was defensive coordinator of the Tennessee Titans
Technically, he's Samoan.
I'm just basing this off Ruston Webster's quotes but it wouldn't surprise me to see us go with Morgan-Casey-Hill-Pitoitui in some situations as Wimbley is horrible on running downs. The Seahawks have had success doing this with Red Bryant
Kevin Carter ran a 4.66 40 at his Florida pro day. 2 teams used 1st rd picks to obtain him. Not sure how that compares to a journeyman guy like this.
Should we use bigger guys at end to spell Morgan and Wimbley? Yes but what makes this guy better suited for that than other guys? His height maybe?
He's a damn nice signing either way.
He can play inside and out, probably will see more inside. Reminds me of when we signed Douzable last year, a guy that could play a bit of both.
He is not athletically suitable to play as a 4-3 end.
Exactly! Straight from the horses mouth! I am tempering my expectations but the Titans are looking pretty good on paper right now! Williams was a great hire and we have had a great FA. I cant wait to see the final 53 man roster.
