They like Mooney and they reworked Stevens' deal so Quinn was not going to make the team. Did him a favor releasing him early. Stevens is more of a FB than a TE since he rarely catches a pass.

Also Walker is a good blocker on the move. He can play that H-back role.

I read somewhere that the main plan with Lewan this yr is to play FB. He has the quick feet to lead Sankey through the hole. Few people realized that with the 11th pick the Titans actually drafted the next great FB.

I did like Q. Johnson's ability to catch swing routes or shallow outs. Seems like Mooney has a hard time catching with those tree trunk arms of his.

Eh IDK about that one buster, Mooney has some ability in space, and had 6 more catches than Johnson last year.

    And there was this

The way the nfl is going, this makes way more since. Either use a te or a big back that can block. 1d players that don't play one the line are a waiste

Did you not see the gif I posted? Mooney is twice the athlete Stevens is, we need to retain a true FB.

I did, mooney is more a big back that can block. He has decent hands and decent feet, I would like to see him get some carries too. I like mooney as our fb, I just don't like the guys that can only block. if you are gonna use a guy just to block and get a few touches, why not just put an extra tackle in those plays

The way FB's have to block is totally different than what Tackles and TE's do. Youre literally on a collision course to blow the LB out of a hole, Tackles & TE's just dont do that. If we're going to invest a roster spot in a lead blocker, it better be a FB.

But I do see what you're saying, we could just do away with a FB all together. It makes sense too, especially considering RB's averages go down when a FB is in. Its a giant flag that screams run, but if you have a versatile FB, you can use that against teams.

The real question is; can Mooney catch well enough to throw defenses off? I think he can.
