I hear all this talk about an identity and how the Titans are a "run first" team, but the fact is they are not. The running game with few exceptions has been totally ineffective. The Chargers and Jets game, our two most notable victories this year were a result of a good passing attacks after the run game failed. The loss to KC where we had 1st and goal at the 1 and couldn't run it in should have been proof enough that we are not a running team. I believe our receivers can be more effective at their respective positions than our running backs are at theirs. In the Jags game we rushed 26 times for 83 yds. We passed 24 times for 293 yds. Why keep running the ball? Our running backs averaged less than 2.5 yds/carry last week (CJ and Greene). Fitz and Locker had better running stats than CJ. I don't recall seeing a 5 receiver set or a two TE set so far this season. If we are up against a 3-4 defense, we never run outside, only up the middle. Maybe if we come out passing, make the defense defend the middle of the field more, we can have a more effective running game. In today's NFL, it's not like the rules favor a running game.
